This is my laboratory. I once thought about being a fiction writer, but as I considered what I really want to do with my life, I realized that my fiction writing was only a supportive part of my true goal of being a creative therapist - which I am actively working towards.

To make a long story short, I am a believer in the power of symbolism. This fascinates me more than even writing fiction and poetry. It combines my love of folklore, art and research too. It opens up the opportunity for me to do more with my life than just being a writer would.

And even more important, it's something I believe in with all my heart. When I think "writer", I think "that would be cool." But when I think of the path of creative therapy, it hits me in the chest like a burning light of purpose. Personal callings outweigh "cool" any day of the week.
